Radio Free Whatever 6940 USB 0230 UTC 07 May 2017
« on: May 07, 2017, 0233 UTC »
S7, good audio, signal looks like RFW on the waterfall but no ID heard since tune-in.
0232 - "Good Enough" AOSOON
0234 - slick canned ID with Dick Weed, then "Wonderful" Francobollo
0243 - down to S5 but still good copy.  "Get Out Of the City" A. Sinclair
0252 - S5 with deep fades, good copy on peaks.  "Simple Love" The Dig
0258 - back up to S7, sounding great.
0302 - "Where's The Revolution" Depeche Mode
0312 - S5 to S7, "I Got Your Message" Hideout
0314 - Dick Weed talking about alarms going off at the bunker.  Some fades to S3 now.

Thanks for the songs.  I would probably never hear most of these, if not for your broadcast.

Tuned in at 0236, weak but clear, spacey pop music, RFW ID, R-2000 & dipole.
Drake R8, Kenwood R-2000, Panasonic RF-4900, Sony 2010, Realistic DX440, Grundig Satellit 500, CB antenna, Mt Prospect, IL 20miles (32km) NW of downtown Chicago. I have been using online receivers because my 7mhz dipole came down in a storm and after my stroke on 3 June 2024 I can no longer get up on a ladder to fix it. Also too much neighborhood noise. williamhassig@yahoo.com

Still not even dusk out on the west coast, but am able to get a tiny bit of signal enough to make out a human voice and then some type of cosmic-sounding music.  02:56 UTC SINPO:  15221

0302z Depeche Mode's new single 'Where's the Revolution' About S8 with the beginnings of some shallow fades.  Exact freq seems to be about 6939.996 KHz.
0307z sounds like the Black Keys.
0309z Radio...Free...Whatever.... ID

Thanks for the show!

Highly variable reception here at 0322z. From under S1, which is slightly above my current noise floor not counting static crashes, to occasional peaks over S5 with strong modulation.

Mixing well into the noise floor at 0330z. The modulation is there but copy is very minimal, even now with outboard DSP noise filtering enabled and headphones deployed.

Off air or signal fade out at ~0336z here.

Thanks for another broadcast tonight. :)
