I have been spending alot of time at work DX'ing via various remote receivers while I'm "on a conference call" or "taking a webinar" with my office door locked....Dx'ing & getting paid for it! I installed another 60 day perseus demo on my office computer. i use a USB stick for web access as it is otherwise blocked by the internet filters (I work at a high school).

I would if I only could, to either of those options.  My recording equipment is all outdated enough or unusual enough that it isn't likely to connect with a shortwave, and as is, I haven't got the right cords.  Or a timer for the smaller tape recorder, as it happens.  Thing won't start recording unless somebody manually hits 'play'.  As for DXing via remote; work limits on bandwidth strike again!  Argh!  No live audio/video allowed, for reasons of eating up the bandwidth in the office.  Pfffft.

You guys'll have to fill me in on what I missed.  Maybe next year the broadcast will fall on a weekend.  Or they'll schedule it for, say, 0400Z instead, or something.  Rats.

I’ve tried to listen to the broadcast a couple of times, but the signal has been rather weak here in Oslo. Perhaps I’ll try again tomorrow.

Interesting station anyway! North Frisian is certainly not a language that you hear too often on the radio.

I wonder who these broadcasts are targeted at, by the way. Is there a North Frisian community on the east coast of the US?

I can't DX at work as I'm in a tall office tower and that thing makes kills reception, except for the high power FM stations.

Then there's the WebSDR at Twente in the Netherlands.... but our stupid Internet proxy is blocking the network traffic that the Java thing uses.

So... have my TS-690S at home on the freq and a computer programmed to grab an MP3 of it at the appointed time.

As some people take March 17th off, maybe I'll start taking Feb 21st off.  ;D

   Tsjoch!

I thought I was the only one who'd jokingly (I swear!) entertained that notion.  :)

I recorded it in 2011 & 2012.

Told a friend about this and he's put the pressure on to make sure I record it this year.

He's going to get his own SW receiver in the next couple of weeks, so he can listen next year.

great signal in Missouri. Odd format...there is an english speaking guy asking question to a German speaking guy, so you get bits & pieces of english but mostly German. S9 signal though.

Audio of Radio Öömrang:

2013
2012
2011

(Crud. Started the 2013 recording at 1559Z and they fired up the transmitter about 155933Z and I forgot to edit out the beginning static. I'll fix that sometime).

Receiver for this year (and I think the other years) is a Kenwood TS-690S with a G5RV @ 25'.
