WENO 4060 USB 0309 UTC 31 OCT 2022
« on: October 31, 2022, 0310 UTC »
Sounded like a numbers station at first but now music and voice...

0255: Numbers station parody, counting in English and Spanish with reverb and background music
0301: "WENO Shortwave" ID
0305: WENO ID
0308: "Rock music is boring" WENO ID "Mathematically correct music"
0317: WENO ID "Thanks for listening"
0320: "It's not rock and roll"
0325: WENO repeated 3x
0328: WENO ID
0338: Very funny parody of WWV

Could not identify any of the music. It all had a kind of techno/space/jazzy vibe. All instrumental with occasional indistinct vocalizations.

S9 and very clear here.

Thanks for the show!

Songs are identified with Shazam if needed. I usually use KiwiSDR receivers. Reception from my QTH is using an SDRPlay RSP1A for SWL with a 40 meter band Inverted V at 40 feet. Kenwood TS-570D for ham use.

4060 USB
0350z Booming signal with excellent audio via MD SDR (not a hint here at home, alas). WENO ID, Brian Eno "No One Receiving"
0400z Phil Manzanera, "Rongwrong"
0404z WENO, shortwave to the moon, Alice
0411z more Eno, WENO broadcasting from lower earth orbit.
0421z WENO sign off IDs, Eno, Just Another Day
0423z off. Great show, signal and audio. Wish my home rx had reception like that MD SDR. That particular Kiwi has a V-beam aimed at Europe but apparently has lobes off the back good enough for some US reception, and very quiet.

Recording of last 20 minutes of broadcast. Really good stuff.

0402 UTC: Nice S5 signal with almost no noise and a little fading. Not sure what the music is, it almost sounds like a harp.
0424 UTC: Off

Thank you for the broadcast.
