S06 Russian Station
« on: October 20, 2023, 2001 UTC »
The S06 station is coming up on 9412kHz USB/AM, it's strange because it interferes with Egypt Radio Cairo

Some Egyptian tuning in is gonna be like, "What on earth is this?"

Is S06 operated by Russia's foreign intelligence service the SVR?

Welcome mq4 to the HFU family!
It's nice that you support the forum with your entries.
You can read details about numberstations and S06 on Pryiom.org
Today at 2000 UTC on 9412 USB I did not hear their transmission either in my location or on SDR U.Twente. Have you heard them? I assumed they weren't transmitting because the USB modulation always broke through the AM band.
Typically, these stations broadcast a zero message in the first position of the daily schedule,
repeat it in the second position and do nothing in the third position (if it is scheduled).
Today the opposite happened.

Thanks!  :)

The first transmission I didn't hear, I used utwente sdr

I did see a SVR hypothesis in the E07 description

It seems SVR runs the S06 station

Hi all.

The E07-family (including M12, XPA1/2 and XPB1) are operated by the SVR, that much is true.

The S06-family instead comes running from the military intelligence of Ruzzia, the GRU.

Hope this helps.

Hi.

Is S06 operated by Russia's foreign intelligence service the SVR?

Please add Date, Time and Day to your logs as stations in these networks are not transmitting daily/weekly. The have complex schedules so if you want to have a detailed view on them please add these three details to your logs.

Thanks in advance.

Really, that's lovely to know

I noticed E07 is coming on during morning times in the West Coast of the US, I wonder if there are operatives there

To nq4 - it will be nice if, in addition to the information Thomas writes about, you provide the reception QTH.    All these parameters allow us to approximately predict the sender's area of interest.
When I returned to my interest in SWL, I was surprised that numbers stations still actively use HF to communicate with their agents, despite the omnipotent Internet and satellite communications.
Radio waves are like air, anyone can listen to them, but only the initiated know what it means.
Our humble work does some good, as evidenced by the large number of followers!
    Best regards to all listeners!
