Radio Casablanca 6940 AM 7/31/09
« on: July 31, 2009, 1253 UTC »
7/31/09, 0155-0340 UTC, Radio Casablanca, 6940 AM, Casablanca theme show with big band and crooner music.  Best on 6939.9 USB here due to regional QRN and heavy QRM on LSB side.  Overall SINPO-23232.  Not strong but the best signal so far of the three shows I've caught this summer from this station, with good sounding audio.  All confirmed quickly via eQSL by Rick Blaine, operator of this unique station.  (N. Central TX)

0155z: Very faint mellow sounding vocal music, not enough to ID, but genre seems like previous Radio Casablanca shows.
0201z: Radio Casablanca ID w/ e-mail address
SINPO - 22231, fair signal battling QRN from regional t-storms and ute or OTHR noise.

0220z: Radio Casablanca ID. Music still not quite strong enough to ID any songs.
0225z: "Blue Skies", first clearly audible song so far, signal improving.
SINPO - 23232, since 0220z signal very slightly stronger and ute noise QRM has decreased.

0234z: Radio Casablanca ID w/ e-mail address
0239z: Sinatra w/ "Anything Goes"? Still very tough copy due to noise.
0242z: "Good Ship Lollipop" briefly audible, presumably Shirley Temple
0252z: "Night and Day", not sure who's singing, sounds like Ella Fitzgerald?
0254z: "Paper Moon" (Ella again?)
0257z: "Blue Moon", sounds like Billie Holiday
0313z: Clearest ID tonight for Radio Casablanca with "The voice of free French Morocco" slogan.
SINPO - 33222, occasional stronger peaks but with more fades to right at noise level since 0240z.

0332z: Big signal dive, carrier and program barely audible for past 10 minutes.
0340z: Picked up a bit, sounded like "Stardust"
