HLB aeronautical voice beacon 254kc 0300u 29 Nov 2013

Surprised to dig out of the noise... a voice aeronautical beacon on LW! I thought they were all pretty much decommissioned.

Beacon is on 254kc in Batesville, Indiana.

"Batesville-Hillenbrand Airport... automated Weather Observation"... (also sends cw id HLB).


Update @ 0359u... Guess there's more voice beacons than I thought. Hearing a real weak one at 228kc, but can't quite pull it out of the noise. Tomorrow's another day...

That NDB has a Transcribed Aviation Weather Broadcast (aka TWEB).
