Driving up I-83 from York Pennsylvania I was monitoring several freqs and began to pick up a NOAA weather rebroadcast on 1610 which got strongest at the I-83 I-76 Pennsylvania Turnpike Intersection.  I was then able to hear the station about 15 minutes while driving west on the Turnpike so I certainly don't think it was a Part 15 station.      Does anyone know anything about this?  Are there official or legal stations in PA that rebroadcast NOAA on 1610??   I know there are some in Northern Utah that do exactly that.

Other states, such as Pennsylvania and New York, often rebroadcast NOAA Weather Radio at Interstate rest areas.

Thanks.   I figured it was probably a TIS station or something similar.   Too much power to cover the distance I picked it up on  car AM radio to be a Part 15 station but you never know if someone is playing around with a higher powered transmitter.

Several  years ago, WQUN AM  Hamden, CT (owned then by Quinnipiac University) was attempting to sell.  They used NOAA's Meriden, CT's weather transmission for a couple of weeks, from a May 2021 New Haven Register story:

"WQUN went silent in May 2019 and Quinnipiac officials had a year to sell the station to someone who would return the station to the air or risk losing control of the license. After buying some extra time with the FCC by broadcasting National Weather Serice reports for a couple of weeks, Quinnipiac officials announced they had signed a letter of intent to sell the license to what then was an unidentified buyer, later revealed to be Smidt."
