Where I live currently, there's only one VHF DTV channel, and that's CH13 for Huntington / Charleston, WV. Nothing low band here, until you go North to Clarksburg, WV, where they have an RF DTV CH5. So, no interest in lower VHF RX'ing here for me really. I do use a 6M HALO, for 6M SSB ops, but being OMNI, doubt it would have the gain for South of the Border VHF Low Band Reception. Still, interesting.... Thinking more about this, this could be Trans-equatorial Propagation.

That opening was wild. It started with some aurora contacts reported (6 meters and maybe 2 meters) and then I noticed monster signals on 10 meters into the Caribbean. From there it went to 6 meters and all heck broke loose. At least one FM broadcast station was spotted via e skip on the map, but I never heard it go that high.

I worked about dozen stations on 6 and heard many more, some even down to Ecuador.

Yes, low VHF TV would have been fun to monitor.
