WP2XZH experimental project
« on: February 03, 2026, 0053 UTC »
First transmission today (2/2/26) at 22:17UTC on 9284 kHz from Crooked River Ranch, OR using a modified ICOM IC-703+ and an End Fed Half Wave (EFHW) antenna.

This was a test at 1-watt, received by the Maritime Radio Historical Society (KPH) receiver in Point Reyes, CA, a distance of 546 miles

- similar to the distances between Paris France or London England from Berlin Germany.

Current HF propagation conditions are similar to those during WW2.

1-watt would have been entirely adequate to send messages between these cities.

Resistance operators behind enemy lines during WW2 typically used 5-10 watts.
