Uncle Bob Radio 6930 USB
« on: October 11, 2009, 1232 UTC »
Presumably a relay but no ID heard other than Uncle Bob Radio.
10/11/09, 6930 USB, 1115-1230 UTC: "Dueling Banjos" music, chatter by Uncle Bob about beer, narrative about creation of Uncle Bob radio character.  Audio appears to be on a loop, despite mention of this being "broadcasting to you live."
1159z: Suddenly better signal peak. "...drink more beer. F**k milk! Beer is a man's drink." "Yeah, it's Uncle Bob again, you know who I am...", sounds of frogs or crickets in background.
1204z: "This is Uncle Bob Radio, broadcasting to you live..."
1207z: "Dueling Banjos" music, something about "professional drinking".
1216z: Same narrative I heard around 1057z on 6925 USB, background about Uncle Bob character, getting into pirate radio (sure sounds like Sycko's voice?)
1311z: Same program looping, sounds like Sycko talking about early prototype for Uncle Bob from around 1998-2000.
SINPO - 22422/32422, stronger after 1230z.  Main problem is S9+ local RFI bursts from parking lot light cycling, 30 seconds every 2 minutes, several fades to inaudible.

I heard this show broadcast three times on 10/11/09 on 6925 and 6930.  Reviewing audio recording, as far as I can tell it appears to be a retrospective by Sycko Radio recalling his origins in pirate radio including his studio recordings before he started transmitting; talking about dipping into his "treasure chest" of older productions on tape; the origins of the Uncle Bob character from around 1998 as a sort of beer drinking good ol' boy type, who later morphed into his current form as an elderly curmudgeon who prefers tube radios and seems to lose track of his medication.

As a listener and fan of Sycko Radio (his shows were among the very first I heard on 6925 after digging my shortwave radios out of the closet in 2007 after a long hiatus from DXing), this is very interesting stuff.  No idea who actually broadcast this retrospective, as no ID's were heard and nobody claimed credit for the relays.  Seemed to have been one op relaying this show since the signal strength and audio quality was consistent.
