UNID on 6772 AM at 0205 UTC on 30 May 2014

Logged this station here in northern NJ tonight, which included the Abbot and Costello Show, with baseball comedy about Bob Feller and then the classic "Who's On First." In between were ads for New Orleans Jazz Week and Camel cigarettes. The Mel Blank Show followed at 0236. Good signal tonight, despite static bursts.

Sent a reception report to the address previously posted by DJ Dickweed.

On a side note...I find it almost difficult to believe an overseas Netherlands pirate can come booming in like this almost the entire day without enormous power. I actually thought I must be within that "umbrella" near the transmitter zone that can hear it all the time even when the band goes long. That's not to say I think Echo 1 is staging a hoax...I just don't know what to believe. Seems this station almost defies physics but then again I know very little about the science of propagation on 6.772. What do you think?

Hi,

Heard in Western Europe at 0220 UTC (on Friday 30th May UTC) :
station on 6771.4 kHz (maybe + - 0.2) in AM mode
with splashes from Stanag on 6767 approx and some voice traffic QRM
It was a talk programme, partly with two voices, not good enough to understand about what.
02.26 : song
02.28 : annt "...short wave, Radio ..."
02.29 : talking again
then the signal got worse and I was awayt from 02.35 till 02.59
02.59 : music
03.00 : annt with a P.O. Box address, then junior(?) voice
03.03 : woman voice, but under noise

Could this be your mystery station ?

Ray

I think it would require the same violation of the laws of physics to allow a 10 watt grenade transmitter in Montana to be heard on the east coast during the summer at high noon.

Good signal this morning at 1055, playing a Muzak (or Muzak-like) instrumental cover of "The Rose." Heard at 1600 yesterday with a fair/good signal as well.

You guys are killing my buzz.  And here I thought I was seeing a carrier from a Euro here in the Midwest a couple hours after local SR using just a small 20" loop.  I guess someone's just funnin' us.

Pretty good carrier but weak audio 2227 with jazz type instrumentals S-9 carrier 05/30/14

This is not a Euro, maybe there is a Euro pirate on the same frequency that Echo 1 is talking about.

If it is coming from anywhere over there, listening here: http://websdr.ewi.utwente.nl:8901/ during their daylight hours might catch it. I'm gonna try that tomorrow morning and see what I hear. I've been trying to hear it on that receiver during their nighttime (to see if I could hear it crossing the pond) but if it's over there then I was listening at the wrong time (the band would've been long).

I wasn't the only one hearing this, then!  Big carrier but low or distorted (low and distorted?) audio last night.  It seemed slightly off frequency, because I had the darnedest time getting it tuned in properly, and that was half my issue.  Didn't make much out through the noise, but then again DX was rubbish last night here anyway.

And yet, there it was. Sort of like spontaneous human combustion, or HAARP controlling the weather. Who are we to quibble when powers beyond our ken are at work?
