I have recently built a prototype of a resonant receiving loop which is exhibiting enhanced loaded Q.  That blog post is here:

Thanks, Chris.  I look forward to seeing what it's going to do to Wolverine's wide audio.  I am pretty sure it's going have a noticeable effect on XFM. ;D

BTW, the tuning range appears to be 3210 - 10180

Keep up the good work!  I was never able to get anything useful beyond 75 meters...  All I can say is be very careful of PVC as some of that material can cause problems in RF situations...  If it heats in a microwave oven then add that into your calculations...  but I am sure you have already consider this...

Keep on keeping one because you are doing better than I did...  ;D

Hey jFarley, congratulations on getting higher Q.  I'm not sure what that is but I figure I'll learn it some day.

I see you logged Wolverine after you posted this.  I'm curious to know how Wolverine fared on your new hot rod antenna.  From what I gather, your new antenna might cut off some of Wolverine's wide bandwidth. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you for your kind comments.  I am preparing a post for the 30 Below blog which covers the subject of Q, so stay tuned.

Yes, I logged WR with the new loop, and took a couple of screen shots.  With the Q levels I was experiencing that night, audio BW clipping was just incipient, but not pronounced; close, but no earth-shattering kaboom yet.

Those caps are on my other computer, and I will post one later.
