I was surprised to catch this one, 5kw from the west coast.  Here's what it sounded like from Michigan:

Received using the phased BOGs.  600 is just about always 100% WMT with a huge signal from my location.

Wow...excellent catch! Nice quite Band Cndx, unlike "Storm central" down this way.

Congrats, KOGO is quite a haul up to MI!

Thanks!  This is the first "under 10kw" west coast station that I've caught here.  Nice conditions on that particular morning.

I used to live up i Northern MI during the 60s and 70s.....granted a much different world back then...but what a quiet place to listen from. Back then, I had one local on am at 1290, FM was 98.5 and 106.7...ok throw in 92.9 from Cadillac too.

I heard so much on my old DX-160 on MW back then. WLW was always there weak but there. At night, it was always fun. I managed to knock out 40+ states up there. I never got to hear the old KORL on 650, but I tried and tried.

Ahh, that quiet radio dial before everyone got flea power and night and before a translator was on every FM channel!
