With FLDIGI  it looks like letters  in groups of five for the most part, really strong even "Splattered" signal on the DDC water fall, off air 23:31 z

Listened to and recorded audio of similar or same CW transmission today at 12-8-2014  23:14 utc - ended 23:26 utc   8009 khz

Same appearance on DDC waterfall as screen shot on previous post, strong CW in center w/ 2 weaker "side bands" of CW.   8 hz wide total bandwidth.

I have not caught the beginning of this transmission either time but today there was a short pause the 2 final letters sent. "VA" is what I hear at the end today .
I do remember a short pause and then 2 characters at the end of the transmission posted above as well.

I did run FLdigi which does not copy correctly 100% but as the last time it was all letters - no numbers and for the most part they were in groups of 5 characters.
I have also noticed that it does not appear to me that the entire letter set of A thru Z is being used?

I did an online search for CW on 8009 khz and only came up with this post here on hfu?

I found this. He mentions Cuban cut numbers on 8009 Khz..:

An AM radio Boombox DXer.
+ GE SRIII, PR-D5 & TRF on MW.
The usual Realistic culprits on SW (and a Panasonic).

Interesting link BoomBox

He also mentions 8009 khz CW in issue #105  11/01/14

http://www.dxing.com/intrigue/intrg105.htm

Under the heading "Cuban Communications" he writes:
"Regarding the CW transmissions, they often interchange the 8009 and 8135 kHz frequencies and HM01 often appears on skeds that should be for CW"

This might help explain the ridiculous wide bandwidth for a CW transmission as seen in the SDR screen capture with my original post?

Anyway this suggest the posted CW transmission was / is  a "Numbers Station" not an "Other"

This is Cuban numbers station M08a, they have a regular schedule on this frequency that starts at 2300z.  Of course, as with anything the Cubans do that start time is "about", it is often a few minutes early or a few minutes late.

This station uses "cut numbers" for its transmission, and it sends 5 figure groups.  So that the number group 53678 would be WDRIG.

T = 0
A = 1
N = 2
D = 3
U = 4
W = 5
R = 6
I = 7
G = 8
M = 9

Any other characters you have in the body of the transmission are likely transcription errors.  Any groups in the message body smaller or larger than 5 figures are likely transcription errors.
