Dasher 8349.85 Loud and Clear
« on: December 22, 2009, 2135 UTC »
 :)
No problem copying the 8349.85 dasher here in Central Florida.
John asked me to try and I turned the receiver on and bang,
loud and clear! Great signal with characteristic fade but roaring
in on the TS870 and 80 meter inverted V.
Good job John!

This guy is strong!
I copy very well with 18 db attenuator on the front end!
Wow! At 18 db the qsb just takes him out momentarily
and then right back up at 2145UTC.
Unless the pattern is north and south you folks should
hear this one well at times.

On and off the air for testing.... thanks for the report, it's much appreciated. ~400mW and it looks like a dogs breakfast (characteristically!) but it seems to work.

If I did my math right, the 18db pad would be the equivalent of about a 6mW signal copyable at your end.

You've got good ears (and gear)  :-)

Listening with a TS870 and 80 meter inverted V at 35 feet, fed with ladder line via a tuner.
That's it, nothing special. Your math is correct! What kind of antenna is it using? Its
definitely radiating very well! As I tuned onto the operating frequency it simply burst into
a great signal. Neat--- ;D

Like I said great job and hopefully you'll get some western reports,
or maybe even one from Europe with that great signal.  I listened a little more later, after
0200 UTC and the signal was way down. The skip had lengthened and I'm sure an astute
listener would've heard it from quite some distance.

Stay tuned!! ;o)
