CHU 6660 kHz
« on: November 09, 2015, 1753 UTC »
I'm curious if anyone else can pick up the second harmonic of CHU's 3330 kHz transmission on 6660. I am presently hearing it (1750z), although it is quite weak, as usual.  Using USB mode helps.
You might have to try at various times of the day to hear it.
I get best reception during late morning to early afternoon.

Nothing here. Very strong on it's assigned freq, but not a peep on the harmonic, 2215z

I have it weak @ 2340 on 6660.  I can't hear any announcements, but I hear the time pips.

Old thread but this is happening again today. CHU harmonic on 6660 KHz, best in USB, some QRM from a close-in data mode.

Initially at 2340z I heard nothing.

After some listening I started to hear just the time pips every once in a while. 2345-2350z

At 2351z the time pips are more regular and stronger now.

23:55 UTC - Still nothing for me. I even tried some WebSDRs in and around the Pittsburgh area with no luck.

Separate from the reference to Revelation 13:18, pointed out by Kandi, I'm intrigued that Chris has posted before about hearing harmonics of 3330 on 6660 9990 and 13320 khz. Will be looking for those. Thanks for sharing.
All reception from this location, radio and antenna.

02:30 UTC 02 OCT 2021 - It is finally my turn to hear the harmonic --- pips, time data and voice announcements. The harmonic is also clearly visible on the waterfall. I managed to intercept it while decoding HFDL data on 6661.0 kHz. I am located +/- 345 km / 215 miles West of the CHU transmitter site.

Let 'em know. CHU accepts reception reports, plus apparently it will even send a QSL card. Mailing address and email here:

I've sent them reception reports for 6660 and other harmonics. Their engineer claims it's impossible for me to hear them, and my receiver is broken.  :P

Should have mailed him back with a shack photo, then asked all of them? :D

I would say forward the report to IC, and perhaps CRTC specifically, but *good luck* assuming their own internal government radio enforcement practices resemble their amateur radio enforcement practices.
