Civil rights groups complained to the FCC Tuesday over the Baltimore Police Department's use of the cell phone tracking technology known as stingray, alleging that the way police use it interferes with emergency calls and is racially discriminatory.

The complaint argues that the police department doesn't have a proper license to use the devices and is in violation of federal law. It calls on regulators at the Federal Communications Commission to step in and formally remind law enforcement agencies of the rules.

All these years of using them and it never dawned on me that phones have a race.

The local Sheriff's dept got a "Super Cruiser" that was supposed to have that capability a couple of years back. I was giving a late friend of mine stoner sons a ride to the bus station and the super car pulled up beside us at a stoplight. They started going on about the thing, acting more paranoid than usual for those two. I said, "Let's see if works?" and started hollering "Ayatollah! Ayatollah!" ala the movie "Used Cars". I though the two of them were going to have a stroke. The cop didn't notice. Maybe the super car wasn't activated?

Nothing like screwing with young stoners. I once heard the two of them having a discussion of how smoking pot with seeds in it would make you sterile. I said, "If that was true, neither of you two would be here." Both of them are now married and breeding, the thought of it makes me wake up in a cold sweat some nights.

I've been meaning to check on the youngest of the two. His wife is due to deliver soon. The last time I saw him he was in full first time dad mode, working two jobs. He needs to be sleeping. Lord knows he's not going to be doing any for months.
