just tuned in at 0218 hrs and heard a weak morse code signal but then it disappeared - lots of static crashes

I finally heard the morse code callsign but on 6928.8 AM - I could tell that there is an AM station present but the audio is just a whisper

0243 - (cw) KMUD (then repeated)
0246 - (cw) heard call again but signal is at my noise level  - S5 - no audio detected other than cw

I had a carrier on the SDR recording from 0133 to 0327 UTC. That's about it.
