Aransas Pass, TX isn't commonly heard up here. At first I thought it was a new one, but in reviewing old logs, it has very infrequently showed up before.
Now processing last night. 0000-2317 UTC is done and in looking at that, the number of stations seems to be higher. Now doing the ones since 2317.
A little odd... Youngstown, NY is bearing 96 degrees from here and has over 11000 decodes. My antenna is NW-SE, so this station is off to the side. Same with Hudson Falls, NY (90 degrees). Most stations are NW-SE of here, which is hardly surprising, but a few are off to the side.
I may have to try NE-SW tonight. But I really need omni.
Perhaps- have two antennas hooked up to AFE822x, one directional & one omni, then see how signals compare. Not coincidentally, I already have that, but the loop is N-S which is less than ideal. Might be able to make it E-W (its wire is stapled to the house, so there is work to be done in the cold). The sticking point is that I need to record the streams independently and unsure if I can. I do not want to phase them or combine them. And the omni seems to be picking up a lot of noise so unsure how well this is going to go (on the other hand, maybe the signal is resilient enough to punch through the noise even tho the spectrum looks ugly).
