America log 16-18 Jan, part 3: 1290-1530 kHz

Log 16-18 Jan 2017, part 3: 1290-1530 kHz. Final report!

They used to say that two weeks in Lapland equals 10 years of listening in South Finland. That was in past, with traditional radio equipment. Since sdr recordings arrived, two nights with good conditions in South Finland equals two weeks in Lapland with traditional equipment. 255 ID clips in folder, doubles and triples included, some 160 different stations. I have sometimes come back home from Lapland dx-pedition with less results. In fact, I have always had less results.

One final thought. Sometimes I should try some relaxing hobby. Do you know one?

Some of these (the MN & ND ones) are great! Some are local pests (in the Minneapolis/St Paul area) and some I try to get (e.g. KNOX in Grand Forks, ND), but cannot (their pattern is away from me).

Do you get anything from the U.S. from 1530 to 1700?  (and 1710, from TIS and/or pirates... this one would be difficult)

In looking through all of the logs in MW, you have a really great collection. I'm sure its a a lot of work, but can you try to do this throughout the year to see how things change with sun, especially in summer when the ionosphere hates MW the most?

I have noise source from the direction of antenna around 1500-1530. Also recording spectrum ended at 1530 this time. Such stations as Family Radio New York 1560, Caribbean Beacon 1610 and Rebelde 1620 are too common and not very interesting. Lower frequencies are more interesting to me when they are open.

Listening to NA on MW in summer is as easy as listening to FM stations from Argentina. :D Earliest logging of 930 CJYQ was August 30th in one year, might have been 1997.

In March-April the conditions switch to Peru/Ecuador/Bolivia. Before that I hope I can have yet a couple of good nights to more Northern areas.

Worst or best of all is that this is only a prelude. Next season is supposed to be even better.
