As we all know there's not a lot of communications receivers on the market these days, not like the 70's through to the mid 1990's or so.
However, here in Australia one of our only surviving radio hobbies store has it's own "in house" name comms receivers, three models, the small hand held portable up to the larger mains powers/battery operated.
The latter, is available in two versions, one with Airband (AR-1945) and one without. Sadly, Tandy Electronics and Radio Shack are long gone.
A few months back Jaycar Electronics had a pre Christmas sale and I picked up a Digitech AR-1773 receiver for AUD$55-00 instead of the usual AUD79.95.
It's battery only, quite small, 500 memory channels, AM, FM, SW, LW and Airband coverage is quite adequate, no BFO for CW or SSB though. USB jack and head phones jack.
Good little radio for lying in bed tuning about, would go 100% better with an external antenna jack, but works fine with the telescopic whip antenna.
Maybe it's available overseas under another brand name, most things seem to rengerate under different guises these days.
On the Jaycar web site just type in "AR-1733" into the search box then scroll down the page, you'll see the bigger AR-1945 passing down the page.
