Activity 20 May 2017
« on: May 20, 2017, 1546 UTC »
Quite a bit of activity this morning circa 1450z. Lots of stations in the CB band, and also some below and above, even some Latins.

1450 26715 AM A particularly strong SS OM.
1556 26735 AM Very weak, sounds like an EE OM.
1557 26915 AM EE OM.
1604 26905 AM EE OM.
1605 27465 LSB EE OM.
1605 27735 AM EE OM? Weak.
1606 27540 AM Weak. EE?
1607 27770 AM Weak, EE? Hmm, multiple stations here. And I swear one of them sounds like Brother Stair! [Edit: I think this was a mixing product generated in my active antenna]
1646 27685 USB OM with mentions of Brazil, I think in PP. Lots of SSB now above the CB band.
1647 27770 AM Music now. Sounds like a broadcast station of some type.
1651 27805 USB OM, PP I think. Could be SS.
1652 27775 USB OM, again I think PP.

Awh yeah! I was making all sorts of new contacts, and a couple that I've worked from last year, Saturday 5/20/2017. 1st on 6M SSB to TX, LA, and MS. Then, later to the Mid-West on 10M SSB centered around 28.400MHz USB from OK, AR, and IA. But, when that wound down, activity continued to the Mid-West on CB CH38LSB. Oddly enough, the Superbowl CH6 was quite. Hmmmm??? And the early evening ended with some rare E-skip on 10M to Long Island, NY. So, several contacts from there before T-storms shut me down. Glad to have E-skip back, to make-up for the rest of the HF bands sucking from CME's.
I was asked, yet another weird question, of how I would like to be buried, when I finally bite the big one. The answer was actually pretty easy. Face-down, like a certain historical figure in the late 1980's, (I will not mention who, but some of you will get it, and that's enough.) Why??? It would be a burial that will satisfy everyone: (1) My enemies will say that it will show me where to go. (2) On the same point, I can have my enemies kiss my butt. (3) It will temporarily give someone a place to park a bicycle. See??? A WIN / WIN for everyone.
