South and Central America MWARA Voice Comms
« on: July 05, 2017, 1049 UTC »
Does anyone know which frequencies are in use for voice comms for South and Central America? I haven't comprehensively tried the standard listings, but haven't got any traffic on 10024 for a year or so, and haven't heard anything on 10096. From here in NZ I should be able to pick up something at least around 0400 - 0630 (dusk) if not into the night, as Santa Maria / Shanwick / Gander are all relatively easy to get. Jon.

Just off the top of my head:

6.640MHz  USB  LDOC Mexico
6.649MHz  USB  MWARA Brasil

8.885MHz  USB  SAM-2
8.894MHz  USB  Panama AFI2/4
8.915MHz  USB  Caribbean/New York

10.024MHz  USB  MWARA SAM-1 & RDARA Chile & Peru

I have heard some of the Argentine VolMets around too, propagation has not been very kind to that region from here. I have better luck with the Russians and India.

Regarding 8.915MHz USB I get this quite often via the long path, in my morning time, as the Grey Line passes over here from around 2030z to as late as 2300z hearing various carriers in the Caribbean working New York, more often than not the aircraft are better received than New York for some reason.  Ambon Info in Indonesia also shares this frequency.

Hope the above is of assistance... ???

Just consulted my ICAO listings PDF for that region both MWARA & RDARA...as follows:

3.479MHz

4.669MHz

5.526MHz

6.549MHz
6.649MHz

8.855MHz

10.024MHz
10.096MHz

11.360MHz

13.297MHz

17.907MHz

The above covers the entire South America region with some bits of Central America and Caribbean.  Hope that helps... 8)
