40m QRP beacon
« on: November 05, 2017, 1543 UTC »
I've been playing around with a QRP beacon on 40 meters. It runs on 7041.95, with 18 mW of power feeding a tilted folded dipole. It is only on when I am in the basement shack, since you cannot run unattended beacons on 40 meters, as you can on 10 meters.

It repeatedly sends my ham callsign - figure it out and send me a recording or waterfall for an eQSL  ;D

I'll be putting on the air this morning in a few minutes, probably around 1600z.

One of them beacons and a squidlinski/mosquidski to take care of reactances on the wire and the budding hf beaconeer would be golden.

So that's why you never answered my question on Facebook. It wasn't clear on that post that we were supposed to decode the CW.

Naturally, no such luck out west during the day. Let us know if you ever run it at night.

The beacon is back on, 4071.75, with about 1 watt now. There is less chirping than before. Coming in nicely on SDRs in MI, OH, NY, PA and QC.

QSY'd to 7040.26. 2 watts.
