So I'm messing around with the r390a trying to see if it's as sensitive as it's supposed to be and I tune a few megacycles down (without tuning the kilocycles knob) and hear a familiar sound.

Hm01.

How apropos.

The Cuban lady on 11435 rattles off some numbers en espanol and then rdft blares out. The carrier stayed up after she ended the bingo game, and promptly at 1625Z commenced another game of radio bingo, plus rdft.

I wonder if this specific 390 was used to monitor such espionage bcasts back in the "chilling" days of the cold war? It tuned right to an ongoing spy bcast so perhaps it knows what to tune to via spy radio instinct. Still sending at 1640Z.
