SATCOM 250 MHz Pirates 24 Jun 2018
« on: June 24, 2018, 0113 UTC »
253.850 FM 0113Z Two OM. Very good signal.
255.550 FM 0114Z Two OM. Good signal, but not quite full quieting.  One guy has an echo mic.  ::)
267.050 FM 0121Z Two OM. Weak to moderate signal.
269.650 FM 0126Z OM. Very weak and unable to get clear copy on anything. Can tell its OM talking, but that's it.
269.650 FM 0131Z OM. Unsure what is going on here, just heard a (very weak) "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!" Is this a rebroadcast of a soccer game or ?!?
263.920 FM 0136Z Two OM. This one is .920, not .925. Tried 'em both and .920 is much better.
263.830 FM 0149Z Two OM. Ok signal.
258.360 FM 0155Z Two OM. Decent signal.
258.650 FM 0202Z Two OM. Great signal, sometimes full quieting.
253.850 FM 0224Z One OM said "America," so I will assume he is expressing gratitude to the American Taxpayer & the DoD for the satellite communications system.
260.480 FM 0230Z Two OM. Fairly weak.
255.260 FM 0233Z Two OM. Decent signal on one, the other was very weak.
262.330 FM 0235Z Two OM. Ok signal.
260.370 FM 0239Z Two OM. Weak.
250.550 FM 0258Z Not the pirates, but a beeping (rx on FM or AM), approx 2/second. Beacon of some sort?
262.230 FM 0304Z Two OM. Fair signals.

FLTSATCOM 7 (USA 20)  was last known at 100 W in 1999; now over Indonesia region (99 E) with a ~15 inclination*

FLTSATCOM 8 (USA 46) was last known at 23 W in 1999; now near ~15 W with a 13 inclination*

*into a ~4 inclination at time of launch...

Most times & frequencies posted are only an approximation.
Due to adulteration of the E.N.I.G.M.A. "designators" by others and not a match in the Conet Project they are never used.

Nice catches!  I believe some have heard FM stations being related, and even SSTV from the pirates.

USN/USG and Brazilian authorities sometimes crack down on these guys but there's so many (perhaps even brazillions of them lol), and they're so spread out it'd be hard to "catch em all".
Conveniently located near Vincennes Indiana.
