6600 kHz AM - Voice of the People
« on: August 19, 2008, 1133 UTC »
6600 kHz AM, 1120 UTC, 8/19/08.  Voice of the People, logged elsewhere as South Korean clandestine often jammed by North Korea.  Stronger than usual signal recently after hearing only carrier and faint audio most of summer.  Western style aria by female vocalist followed at 1130z by male announcer.  Heavy QRM from data or jamming, most severe on LSB.  Programming audible on USB or AM with sync detection on USB.  SINPO - 32442.
Also on co-freq, 3912 kHz AM, same programming, weaker signal but less jamming or data QRM.  Presumably N. Korea is reluctant to jam the 75-80m amateur bands as vigorously as the 6600 freq.  Orchestral music at 1138z.  SINPO - 23432 (amateur radio ops on LSB just audible).
