Data Link or Pager Poughquag NY SDR 27255 FM 1735 UTC
« on: August 01, 2018, 1740 UTC »
Various FSK signals heard on 27255 kHz 27.255 MHz on the Poughquag NY KiwiSDR first heard at 1735 UTC, S4 signal, then a weaker signal and then 3 seconds later a much stronger signal, sounds like FSK signals replying to each other, signal is roughly 7.5 kHz wide and almost sounds like POCSAG, duration less than 1 second bursts.

While 11 meters is open I believe this is local to the SDR.   I will try and investigate further (and get some screen shots of the signal) later on today.

While the band is still wide open, I am hearing what sound like 3-4 different sites (going by signal strength) transmitting FSK to each other on 27.255 MHz 27255 kHz.  There's intermittent AM voice traffic on 27255 and nearby channels (mainly 27265 and to a lessor extent 27245 causing QRM but the FSK signals are punching through the QRM very well).  Tuning in USB or FM mode makes it easier.

Can you copy the fsk in ssb mode and record it?

Hearing strong FSK signals on 27.255 MHz on the Poughquag NY KiwiSDR, checked locally and can hear the FSK bursts as well so whatever this system is making it out during this band opening.

More FSK stuff coming through or are these other types of data link signals coming through on 27.255 MHz?

Makes me wonder if there are any systems on the other RC frequencies (4 watts maximum power output on 26995, 27045, 27095, 27145 and 27195 vs. 25 watts maximum on 27255)..

I checked several New England and New York based remote receivers and the band seems quiet, no difference locally, 11 meters seems basically pretty quiet except for local AM traffic at 1645 UTC

On the Highland Falls, NY KiwiSDR there's either the same network (although it seems to be a LOT more active) or a different network also receivable 24 hours a day - Highland Falls is around 22-24 miles away from Poughquag...makes me wonder if this network is that large that both of these SDRs are receiving the same one or if its two different networks.

After comparing the two SDRs side-by-side - it appears that these are two different FSK networks both operating on 27.255 MHz.  The SDR owner even has the frequency of 27255 kHz in FM mode labeled as "unidentified local data network".

Extremely active FSK data on 27255 kHz - 27.255 MHz at 1930 UTC 28 August 2018 - this appears to be a multiple-site datalink system going by the different signal strengths on the Highland Falls, NY KiwiSDR.
