The drama;
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/12/11/venezuela-welcomes-arrival-nuclear-capable-russian-bombers/

You can listen in on their comms on 8131 usb, the ac will have numerical callsigns, the ground stas will have calls like BALANS and KATOLIC. Times and freqs courtesy of udxf!

Considering how many ac and pilots were flown in from Russia, I get the idea the airport will become a partially Russian base in the future.

"Considering how many ac and pilots were flown in from Russia, I get the idea the airport will become a partially Russian base in the future."

Venezuelan news agencies, citing the Russian state outlet TASS, reported on Monday that the socialist dictatorship has agreed to allow Moscow to establish a military base on the island of La Orchila in the Caribbean Sea, the first such base since the end of the Cold War.

Venezuela is basically a failed state at this point.  Russia sees this as an opportunity.

A Russian military base in the Caribbean?  Hmm...

At the very least we'll see an increase in mystery HF transmissions coming out of Latin America  ;D
U.S. East Coast, various HF/VHF/UHF radios/transceivers/scanners/receivers - land mobile system operator - focus on VHF/UHF and 11m
