Still on my 1st cuppa coffee, so I had to check, but as I thought, according to http://www.eibispace.de/dx/freq-a11.txt, that should've been Christian Voice in Zambia.

Alex; I agree with you 100% that this is CVC.  It looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, but without an ID it remains an UNID waterfowl.  Have heard this many times since the post, but noise levels are still to high to get the ID.  But it looks might it serve well (as well as Madigasikara 5010) as a prop guidepost for the deep winter African DX season.

Don't know if you're into African DX, but would appreciate any loggings here of anything of note.  I would especially like to know if you ever hear a peep out of 5066.3 out there in the East.  Candip is a station I'd like to hear again.  Not only is it a tough catch, but I think that their QSL remains my favorite of all time.

Only indoor setup at temp QTH for now, so not much chance.  Used to hear them years back in better QTH's, but never could get QSL from them or Lubumbashi, only Kinshasa after many many years of trying.
Have heard snatches of Angola 4950v here, though.

I will confess that I am a recovering QSL whore.  With Candip, I may have possibly...ahem...intimated in my report that I was a man of the cloth...

peep...

Weak het on 5066.28 commencing 0355 w/ noise floor at S1 and quiet.  No audio, and fading by 0415 tonight 19 Nov 11.  Same het also noted with same timing on 11, 12, and 15 Nov 11.

If indeed Candip, I find that almost inconceivable, and I say that in my best Shawn Wallace voice.  I find it really hard to believe that this little pissWatt regional out in the lawless eastern frontier of the DRC could survive Mobutu, rebel takeovers, and the general physical plant deterioration endemic to African SWBCers in general to remain on its longtime traditional frequency and sked.  The Little Engine that could, I guess.

Sincerely!!!  If you follow solar terrestrial indices, it's pretty easy to see why these dates.  I have been checking this freq nightly, if awake!

I've only logged this in January, so this REALLY bodes well.  You have essentially the same terminator timing in January, but with the advantage of quieter conditions.  I've found a couple loggings for this in 2011, all from Europe, so it does appear to still be there; just a curious, enigmatic station.  Check out:
