Boomer forwarded that to me.    https://www.radioworld.com/columns-and-views/readers-forum/letter-to-the-editor-am-stereo-is-still-an-option
Well, I still think that it's an option, even if many of those AM stereo stations are not music formats. And, there are still a couple AM Stereo transmitter kits out there, as well as receiver MOD kits for that as well.
I was asked, yet another weird question, of how I would like to be buried, when I finally bite the big one. The answer was actually pretty easy. Face-down, like a certain historical figure in the late 1980's, (I will not mention who, but some of you will get it, and that's enough.) Why??? It would be a burial that will satisfy everyone: (1) My enemies will say that it will show me where to go. (2) On the same point, I can have my enemies kiss my butt. (3) It will temporarily give someone a place to park a bicycle. See??? A WIN / WIN for everyone.

You're driving along enjoying the ride in your chick-magnet/road-sofa 89 K car, beige with white snowflake wheels and burgundy interior appointments, the am stereo emitting dulcet tones.

Suddenly bedlam!

The phase changes and the sound starts rotating slowly one way around the cabin then the other as the signal undergoes fading!

And that, my friend, is part of it's charm...

I remember reading somewhere a long time ago that some runs of the Radio Shack Accurian HD could do AM Stereo. Anybody know anything about that?

I recall hearing the same thing.  A friend of mine had one of those receivers, but we had no signals to test it with, and my test generator was halfway across the country at the time.

Apparently it is still alive and not just on some sports station. WDGY via Kiwi using SoDiRa. My kind of format and cool to hear in stereo. Too bad it's daytimer. At 8:03am it is still struggling with skywave. Intermittent Stereo lock though.

I used to think AM Stereo was vaporware, that is until someone resurrected it on the internet, and I've heard of platform motion, like you're on a soundstage that's tilting from side to side. I may have heard that in a truck one time, when hearing a radio station doing that panning effect. I didn't know why it was happening or what band the radio was tuned. It was at night I think.

I have heard someone pushing the idea that HD receivers can pick up AM stereo, and also heard that Ibiquity was openly hostile to AM stereo. The HD radio getting analog AM stereo could be a side effect being that AM stereo is a form of Quadrature, and HD receiving quadrature formed signals, but I'd have to wonder if the sound quality would be any good, how close it would be between the two systems to be in any way compatible.

Actually, there are a couple of AM Stereo C-QUAM stations that take the internet stream feed off-air from their AM Stereo receiver, using a Carver TX-11b tuner. (I have to go back and re-find who that is again.) I couldn't believe the audio quality from the Sean Cuthbert AM Stereo transmitter kit, especially when I listened to that on a modified McIntosh MR7084 tuner from 1995. That sounded amazing with the Meduci Kit installed. BTW, you can see that, and other AM Stereo MOD's done at   http://meduci.com/   .
