Pirate Radio New Listener's Guide and FAQ
« on: April 15, 2012, 1522 UTC »
There's lots of folks just getting interested in pirate radio listening, as well as people who stumble on this site, as well as others, and don't really know what it's all about. I'd like to propose making a Pirate Radio FAQ page, possibly on the wiki, that could help folks out.

It could explain what pirate radio is, have a brief history of the hobby, talk about what sort of equipment (radios, antennas and such) are needed, mention web radios for those who want to dip their toes without laying out any cash, discussions of QSL cards, as well as have outbound links to recordings and youtube videos of stations. Maybe some embedded multimedia as well, to grab people's attention?

What else do folks here think would be useful in such a FAQ?

I've created a wiki page to get the ball rolling: http://www.hfunderground.com/wiki/Pirate_Radio_New_Listener_Guide_and_FAQ

If you have an idea for content to add, feel free to add it directly to the wiki (that's what it is there for, for users to create content), or post it here or email it to me, if you would rather not directly edit the wiki.

With everyone's input, I think we can create a very useful collection of content for folks just getting into the hobby.
