« on: December 16, 2021, 1348 UTC »
Hearing PA and OH on 27.385 LSB and just heard a station in Ireland calling as well. Signals are very weak though. (13:48)

Just turned the rig back and I'm hearing Arizona on 27.385. Signals are still not very loud into FL (16:28)

645 Southern CA coming in around 5/6 , 5/7 at times. No contacts on my end so far. (19:05)

Radio silence on 27.385 - (21:47)

Conditions were strange today. I heard Northern Ireland on 27.385 this am around 7:45 am and some US stations working them, but all were weak signals. Then I worked a guy on 10M that was 17 miles from my house. Around 1:45 pm I worked a station in AZ on 27.385, but heard little else.

I need to redo the software side of my SDR setup in the den after updating computers, but for now, I just noted some 11m SSB activity from California, Washington, etc. via a WebSDR located in Georgia.

Hoping 11m DX conditions are viable over the holiday weekend, as I intend to toss out a few CQs if possible.

Yes, 10/11 and 12 meters all had good prop earlier and the WWV time station was booming in on 25.000 Mhz around 19:40

Just worked a station in Ohio on 27.365 @ 20:54. I have gotta go start cooking though. Hopefully, it will be decent later.

Just got my SDR software back working in the den. Built an optimized version of SDRangel earlier this weekend, and just built an optimized version of the AirSpyHF device library. GCC, O3, native, graphite, and lto.

Activity on the usual 11m frequencies: 27025, 27165, 27185, 27385, etc. Also 10m activity on 28400.

Been up awhile. Not yet grey line, but just spotted activity on 27385LSB in the waterfall. I was hoping for early morning DX, but of course, it appears to be locals on ch38. Oh well.

Just took another 11m skim. More local comms. Surely the op needs this much overmodulation to talk to other locals, right? o.0

Occasional audio comms, plus what sounds like a digital signal right above the noise floor, on 27375LSB at 1214z.

The overmoduling op on 27385 is now bleeding to above and even below the 11m CB band. Yay?

Audio modulation near and into the noise floor on 27205AM and 27285AM at 1220z. Perhaps more important to me, thankfully the splatting op on 27385LSB has shutdown his rig for awhile.

Estimated MUF is rising. Up to 29-30MHz in parts of Europe. Still under 20MHz here at the QTH, but improving.

European DX on 20m at 1243z.

European DX on 17m at 1246z.

European DX on 15m at 1251z.

Getting there!

Regional estimated MUF is up to around 18-21MHz.

Modulation in the noise floor is starting to appear on 27025AM at 1302z.

Signals might fair slight better with my 18' end-fed vertical, but I am in the den using an active miniwhip for now. I probably will venture across the house and turn on the 11m rig if/when 11m SSB DX picks up activity.

Heard what sounded like European DX on 27410USB at 1344z.

Activity on 27025AM is still largely in the noise floor, though an occasional signal rises above it.

Local area estimated MUF is up to ~25MHz at 1410z. Estimated MUF in part of Europe is up to 33MHz.
