Tuned in at 2355 on Barrington Hills IL sdr, fair/poor S7 signal with some fading, DJ speaking fast and loud saying thanks for listening, was out of room for a while and when I came back upper side band was active with weak music,

Drake R8, Kenwood R-2000, Panasonic RF-4900, Sony 2010, Realistic DX440, Grundig Satellit 500, 7mhz backyard dipole, Mt Prospect, IL 20miles (32km) NW of downtown Chicago. I have been using online receivers because of strong data hash interference in my neighborhood that I believe is caused by Uverse squeezing up to 100mb/sec through ordinary pairs of wires. I don't have Uverse but neighbors do. williamhassig@yahoo.com

Very big sig here on west central Gulf coast of FL, S9+15 peaks.

However the distortion during live spoken interludes is quite nasty. Music seems OK, but still perhaps a bit too processed.

"Losing My Religion" now, with another rhythmic track blended on top, a studio boo-boo, or DQRM from other pirate?

Okay, just what happened?  I was listening to Zeeky and at about 0000, he got covered up by some "sweeps" and then dead at about 0005. I'm thinking that he was jammed and then shut down his transmitter.

N8JXQ, just moved and the station will be back up in the spring

Nah, he signed off at 0003. There are OTHR blasts going on at that frequency though. Can't consider that jamming (they're allowed on this band after all).
