Lack of beacons on the East Coast
« on: January 04, 2013, 1537 UTC »
Has anyone on the East Coast been hearing much? I have not had much luck with the 2 and 4 MHz beacons lately.

They have not been real strong out here in the Rockies either lately!  I hear A, TMP, X, Hexie and Kelsie occasionally along with W(ind).  Oh and L as well, its becoming a regular.  Prop has been lower in freq I think.  MW and Lowfer has been purty good of late.

Agreed - I don't get to listen often, but the other night I heard "A", and I heard "L" tonight pretty weak around local sunset.

0153Z and while the ham bands are alive, I don't hear any of the beacons on the usual list.  Of course I have my share of noise, but usually I can find something...!

Haven't heard much of anything as well. Of course, reception is always spotty since I'm on Long Island, aka the Sixth Ring of Interference Hell (NYC being seven)

I'm midwest but I'll throw in what I'm hearing (or lack thereof). I've heard a few, but very few. I need to pay more attention to these. Especially the low band beacons.
Radios -- Perseus SDR // SDRPlay RSPdx // Icom IC-7300 // Tecsun PL-660 // Panasonic RF-5000A --Antennas-- Pixel Pro 1B loop - 82' fan-dipole at 40' - tuned MW/BCB 40" loop and 100' receive only dipole
