In The Feb 2013 Pop Comm on page 4 there is in Richard Fisher's editorial, talk about adding a pirate column back in to Pop Comm and they are soliciting reader input at survey monkey: <http://svy.mk/UPAHwS>.
So lets flood them with pro pirate responses!

That would be great. I remember in the 80's sending them loggings and seeing them in print (even had a qsl I received, published) very cool. I also remember the loggings being about 2-3 months old, before they listed them. Timely... no. But nontheless... this I think would garner more interest with this particular radio nitch and certainly needs a nudge from us. Count me in.   ...Steve

Done. Then found out that the hosting site is Survey MONKEY! I hope this isn't another pathetic Bunny attempt at trolling for information.

Old news doesn't necessarily mean bad news!

I remember those columns and always enjoyed reading them
regardless of the time element.

There always seems to be some news I've missed elsewhere.

One yep vote!

I think a pirates column that focused on something other than loggings would be more successful (and useful) in the long run. Articles about stations, perhaps even interviews with the operators. Those kinds of things.

I just entered my "yes" vote too.  On the "why" question, I suggested that most pirates were better verifiers than many of the remaining "legitimate" stations.  So why not give serious coverage to those that still honor reception reports with QSLs?  That would seem to me to be  something worthwhile to the mainstream community also.  Pirates still give feedback to the listeners, regardless of budgets or manpower or current agendas...

I agree with Chris.

I think interviews and reporting on the scene in general would be better than loggings.

Those 1980's PopComms single-handedly got me into monitoring pirates.

Antennas: 40m dipole at 40 feet and a 1/4 wave 80m vertical. 165 foot B.O.G. headed 60 degrees.
