While i was listening to a good song in Arabic, it went off all of a sudden. Nonetheless excellent signal with good audio and it depends if the mummies gave the Nasser era transmitter a good boot.

It is S9+20 with the Northwest Ireland KiwiSDR. Sounds like distorted talk under a massive amount of hum. Terrible audio as always. Always makes me wonder why they keep broadcasting at all. I guarantee that nobody listens to the station for any reason other than to log Egypt. Even then they probably don’t listen for long. Egypt probably spend a significant amount of money on power costs. The station was also just reactivated last year seemingly without doing anything to improve the audio.

Songs are identified with Shazam if needed. I usually use KiwiSDR receivers. Reception from my QTH is using a Hermes Lite 2 with a 40 meter band Inverted V at 40 feet.

Two guys from the same province  giving radically different reports , but the one using real radios from home hears clear audio, while the other using a Satan Designed Radio feed from Ireland got what's come to be considered to be the normal Radio Cairo sound? Hmm... There's only one logical conclusion, leprechauns don't like Radio Cairo. They've probably been futzing up Radio Cairo's audio for years.

I tried to get the Spanish service on 9890 kHz around 0145 UTC and I could hear it directly with my own radio (Pigmeat, are you satisfied now that I heard it directly?). It was weak but I could hear audio okay. An observation that I made was that using my own radio or the nearest KiwiSDR the audio sounded okay while KiwiSDR’s in Europe had very distorted audio. I think this is because the signal was strong in Europe meaning I heard the signal clearly while it is weaker in North America and the static makes it harder to notice the distortion.
