Tunatic music identification software

Has anyone used this software? Is it safe to download ? Input appreciated.

Hi Harry,
Is this software for a smartphone app or a computer? I've never heard of it, but I'm very happy with Shazam on my iphone... you might google for reviews on it.

This is for a computer . Windows supported . i don't have a smartphone maybe its time to get one . I saw how shazam works . One day my son in law was here and the question came up about what song a pirate was playing. Out came the phone and instantly we knew the title . I got to wondering if such a program exists for a desktop . Thus this query.

I used Tunatic for a while but later switched to Shazam which is better at ID'ing tunes buried in noise - it also seems to have a more extensive database.  If you already have your radio's audio connected to a line input on your sound card give it a try.

I use Brain, connected to the Ears input system with some help from Google & YouTube. I've discovered that both Brain's hardware and software interface are incomplete and error prone. Also, neither Brain's hardware nor software are upgradable. And I sometimes do get viruses

I tried Tunatic last year.  I liked the lightweight interface but found it had trouble ID'ing a lot of songs, even when noise wasn't a problem.  I've now switched to using Soundhound on my PC (an Android app like Shazam).  I'm able to run Soundhound on my PC by using the Bluestacks app player.  See: http://www.bluestacks.com/

This works very well for me since I run the SDR on the same machine.  Audio from the SDR is fed into Soundhound via Bluestacks (it just worked for me, no special audio configuring was needed).  Sometimes when it locks onto a song it will sync and display the lyrics in real time - very cool!  For whatever reason, I have not been able to get Shazam to work correctly with Bluestacks, but Soundhound works just as well IMHO.
