Indy Radio 6931 power and location ( OCT 2022 )

Ray, I've heard rumors they only run 15 watts of carrier? For the past couple of weeks I've been able to hear them nightly on the Kiwi and antenna combos on Old Man Smolinski's farm.

Don't trust the rumors... Or maybe, don't think that this TX is a conventional site. After months of looking at the received signal, and minding about that, I think this station is not using any kind of horizontal dipole or other antenna useful for NVIS. Indy Radio is never reported as strong in Europe, often many European DXers can't even log it !

Remember the amateur DXpeditions with vertical antennas on a beach, just to send the best signal at very low angles above salt water. With such a place, the output power is not a problem. About how to have salt water all around you, I leave that to your commonsense.... the problem being to get the web stream on a very remote 'site'.

I've seen hams set up on the lesser developed beaches of the North Carolina Outer Banks using PVC masts to support wire verticals in the off seasons running QRP power.

I used to be in touch with an FM pirate in the Canary Islands who I was always trying to push into HF piracy. I wonder if he took the jump?

Yup, reception was slightly weaker on the Twente SDR than on the Maryland SDRs with 120 ft T2FD and 250 ft V-beam.

That’s were the studio for the online station is. The transmitter for shortwave could be anywhere.

Songs are identified with Shazam if needed. I usually use KiwiSDR receivers. Reception from my QTH is using a Hermes Lite 2 with a 40 meter band Inverted V at 40 feet.

That's where Columbus and the Pinzon brothers left on their journey to the Americas. Ray was right, it's the take-off angle!

Whoops! Colombus and the hermanos Pinzon left from Cadiz. That's what I get for posting before I have caffeine in my system. And on Colombus Day. I'm so ashamed.

Oh well, both cities are in the region known as "The Frying Pan of Spain" because it's so damned hot, face the Atlantic, and there is nothing between them and the Americas but a patch of dirt and the ocean. Ray is still right!

Edit by Ray : Pigmeat, you're getting hot !
