MLK, jr Week good for low-band DX'ing?
« on: January 11, 2024, 2131 UTC »
Oh yeah... That cold snap, for most of the week of MLK, jr. Day Week, is definitely going to suck, but on the plus side it should be decent to quiet down the lower HF, MW, and LF, bands. (I hope...) Go check out how much better 60kHz pulses of WWVB come in when those temperatures drop. See??? Take the good with the bad.
“I am often asked how radio works. Well, you see, wire telegraphy
is like a very long cat. You yank his tail in New York and he
meows in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? Now, radio is
exactly the same, except that there is no cat.”
-Attributed to Albert Einstein, but I ripped it from the latest Splatter .PDF March 2025 issue.
