I'm going to jump in here because I was contemplating my own post, but this seems as good a place to share my observation. I don't know when it began, but I have noticed that VOK's musical introductions (the National Anthem, the "Song of General Kim Il Sung," and the "Song of General Kim Jong Il") are now all instrumental, including on their Korean language broadcasts which formerly were KCBS, but now seem to be more like the other languages since KCBS was taken off the air. For as long as I've been hearing VOK, the DPRK national anthem was instrument but the "Songs" were choral, while I believe the national anthem was choral on the DPRK broadcasts and the "Songs" were omitted - someone correct me if I have that wrong. I don't know when the changes were made but I'd bet it was at the time North Korea ceased KCBS, which is part of a change in the way they're conducting relations with South Korea.
