Radio Veronica 5955 AM 0731 UTC 20 APR 2024
« on: April 20, 2024, 1632 UTC »
I am listening to Radio Veronica at this very minute. It seems like a legitimate channel. It carries what appears to be rather customary commercial advertising and it has a website.

What I want to know is why the website lists all of its FM frequencies, but makes no mention of 5955 kHz! Any reason? I can't imagine that it is a licensed station on FM but has a foray into radio piracy on shortwave.

On 5955 : Sunlite has a licence. Why they now relay Radio Veronica at anytime,
why Radio Veronica says nothing about that relay is beyond our knowledge.

Good evening to you all. For the first time, inside a middle town of Northern-France, I could pick up at 19.36 U.T.C. during an indoor reception, Radio VERONICA with a signal strengh of a maximum of 4/12 LED with a SINPO of 35444 on the frequency 5955 KHz. At the page 577, of the W.R.T.V.H. 2022, Sunlite Radio owns a licence for using this frequency with a radiated power of 500 watts. In the Netherlands, Radio VERONICA is broadcasting in the VHF II FM band. For further information about its network, the site www.fmlist.org will be useful for you. Good D.X. B.L.

Hi, again to you all. I sent an e-mail to info@radioveronica.nl in order to obtain the confirmation of our receptions on the frequency 5955 KHz. On its Web site at the page concerning the frequencies, there is nothing about this transmission on short waves. In the Netherlands, Radio VERONICA owns a VHF II FM network with 28 relays and 40 DAB + VHF III bands transmitters on the channel 11 C for the regions and areas where there are no more available or free frequencies. This company manages an other programme in this DAB + band named "Vintage VERONICA". Good night. B.L.

The owner of the license on 5955 kHz Icon BV and the programmes Sunlite and Radio Veronica all belong to the same company Mediahuis (ex RadioCorp).
One of the directors is Herbert Visser, who also presenting the weekly show Superclan Radio via Channel 292. So I guess he is the driving force behind the shortwave operation on 5955.
