UNID 6920 FM 0159 UTC 24 May 2024
« on: May 24, 2024, 0200 UTC »
0159: sign-on; music "Hotel California" - William Hung
moderate-severe audio distortion; 55555, S9+10, great except for audio distortion - maybe my setup?
0204: "Amazed" - Lonestar
- distortion also noted on several remote SDRs, but pretty clear at times
0208: "You are a pirate" song; "We're Not Gonna Take It" - Twisted Sister
0213: "The Look" - People Like Us
0217: "Otro Día Más Sin Verte " - Jon Secada
- may have to soon disconnect antennas, lightning storm returning

0227: lightning returned, have detached the antennas; was fun while it lasted

Thank you for the broadcast and for delving into FM! Can you please email me an address for reception report?

Tuned in at 0200 on Brookfield WI sdr with good S9+20 signal, song "hotel California" by the Eagles, at 0205 tuned in locally with variable results due to S9+10 neighborhood noise, at 0208 song "you are a pirate" by Lazy Town, at 0210 "we're not going to take it" by Twisted Sister, 0223 rap music, 0230 "stand by me" by Ben E King from 1960, 0241 "Mrs. Jones" by Billy Paul, more music, off at 0408, thanks for the tunes.

Drake R8, Kenwood R-2000, Panasonic RF-4900, Sony 2010, Realistic DX440, Grundig Satellit 500, 7mhz backyard dipole, Mt Prospect, IL 20miles (32km) NW of downtown Chicago. I have been using online receivers because of strong data hash interference in my neighborhood that I believe is caused by Uverse squeezing up to 100mb/sec through ordinary pairs of wires. I don't have Uverse but neighbors do. williamhassig@yahoo.com

Songs are identified with Shazam if needed. I usually use KiwiSDR receivers. Reception from my QTH is using an SDRPlay RSP1A for SWL with a 40 meter band Inverted V at 40 feet. Kenwood TS-570D for ham use.

Thanks for listening. You're very welcome. Have a good night.

Hopefully the audio was decent by the end. Sorry about the poor quality earlier. It sounded great until I turned up the amp. Probably some feedback entering the lines. Seemed to figure it out by the end, choked it, adjusted levels. Lessons being learned. See you next time.

Thank you for the broadcast and for delving into FM! Can you please email me an address for reception report?

brotherstair@protonmail.com - I'll get an eQSL made up very soon. And FM can really sound absolutely amazing on HF when the signal is good, but the cliff is very steep. My transmitter really seems to prefer FM, so I'll just go with what it wants.

The crazy bastard using a Yaesu FT-757 GXii to try to do pirate radio.

All logs are from local AirSpy HF+ Discovery with 200' longwire ~40ft up between two trees
