SIO 131

Very weak signal - just enough to lock the sync detector and with a bit of bluegrass popping out now and then.
0057z - off?
0100z - back again - slowly improving to SIO 332 with a lot of fades. More bluegrass.
0117z - JD Crowe + - Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain

Great to hear you again. I just found my hard copy 2009 QSL!

Songs are identified with Shazam if needed. I usually use KiwiSDR receivers. Reception from my QTH is using a Hermes Lite 2 with a 40 meter band Inverted V at 40 feet.

Weak but clear music heard via the Atwater, Ohio, SDR ...

0100 UTC: Bluegrass song.
0102 UTC: Another, faster bluegrass song started.
0104 UTC: Recording of a live bluegrass performance (so far, Shazam's no help in identifying these songs).
0110 UTC: A couple different male singers in harmony on another bluegrass song, also seemingly recorded live.
0113 UTC: OM with ID announcement, which was repeated a few times and interspersed with sound clips: "Radio Appalachia, the free voice of the Ohio Valley." Added that he's broadcasting from West Virginia.
0114 UTC: "She's Gone, Gone, Gone" by J.D. Crowe & The New South. The signal's gained some strength in recent minutes.
0116 UTC: "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain (Live at Kosei Nenkin Sho Hall, Tokyo, 1979)" by J.D. Crowe & The New South.
0119 UTC: "Rose Colored Glasses (also live in Tokyo in 1979)" by J.D. Crowe & The New South.
0123 UTC: "The Martha White Theme (also live in Tokyo in 1979)" and some between-song banter by J.D. Crowe & The New South.
0125 UTC: "Ballad of Jed Clampett (also live in Tokyo in 1979)" by J.D. Crowe & The New South.
0127 UTC: More between-song banter from J.D. Crowe & The New South.
0128 UTC: OM with ID announcement again, then a sound clip of a joke by Ronald Reagan, a Three Stooges sound clip, and then the ID announcement again.
0129 UTC: "Death is Only a Dream" by Roy Lee Centers & Ralph Stanley.
0131 UTC: "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" by June Carter Cash (fun fact: Quakers like me don't sing songs at church, but this is one of the few songs I've heard sung at Sunday meeting).
0135 UTC: "The Old Rugged Cross" by Brad Paisley. The signal and audio are now peaking above S10 at times at the SDR I'm using.
* * * *
0146 UTC: Off. I was just sitting back and listening to the last few songs.

Thanks for the Saturday evening bluegrass, Radio Appalachia! Please eQSL if you can.
