Yes, Dave G0EVY ... local to me.  He has massive 80m and 40m antennas on top of a mobile crane

Yeah, I was going to mention his 40 and 80 meter Yagis, which he raises up and down by a crane. He raises and lowers the boom every night. (I suppose when you have a crane at your disposal, why not use it?) I think he said that he (and/or his spouse) doesn't want it raised up in the daytime often.

He has this schtick (that I've heard too many times) where he talks about his yagis and then demonstrates that he probably doesn't need the 100 Watts he uses by reducing his transmit power down to 9 Watts and asks others to note his signal strength. (I suppose a multi-element Yagi at 100-150 feet [30-45 meters] elevation would be quite helpful in that regard.  ;D )

I've been listening to Dave (a.k.a., Jov) for some time.  He's quite a character.  He's very knowledgeable about the hobby and anxious to share his knowledge, maybe too anxious.  He tends to be a bit condescending if you don't get what he's talking about right away, but on the whole, he's fun to listen to.

He seems to hang out mostly around 7140khz.  You can catch him most night around 0100-0430 UTC.

Never heard the guy, or any LSB station on 40M from the UK. Too far from the East Coast, I suppose.
An AM radio Boombox DXer.
+ GE SRIII, PR-D5 & TRF on MW.
The usual Realistic culprits on SW (and a Panasonic).

I used to chat to him on 70cms in the UK.  He is/was a electrical engineer, specialising in High Voltage commercial installations and he does know his stuff.  I think he's retired now, so more time to spend on the radio!
