CFRX Status

I emailed CFRB asking about CFRX 6070, and got this reply:

Quote

I sent another e-mail to the engineers asking about it myself but haven't heard back from anyone.  I know with the recent takeover by Bell Media, there are lots of changes going on, one being a complete move of the CFRB studios, along with the 2 associated FM stations, to a location deeper into the Toronto downtown core.  This would present a major engineering task so its possible that's what's putting CFRX on the back burner.

I await like everyone else.  Thanks for the interest.

I hope the do come back on SW. A good listen, and a good indicator of propagation from up that way.

Another update regarding CFRX:

Quote
Some sort of component issues.  If Bell Media are keen on keeping CFRX going, the whole transmitter will be sent back to the builders of the transmitter ( Armstrong Transmitters) in New York state and get it working properly.  This is the second time this year the fairly new transmitter has been down.

It's wait and see right now.  There are other bigger technical issues the station is facing with the recent takeover, the main one being a complete move from the present location to another spot in downtown Toronto.  Bell Media like having all their stations under one roof, so that will take any time away from CFRX issue.

Note to self: avoid Armstrong transmitters :o

I have first hand experience with the company as an employee at one time - my bet is Bell will kill the station. SW isn't within their understanding. What they don't understand, they "surplus" :-\

Peace!
