Antenna
« on: July 25, 2025, 2334 UTC »
I have a large awning off of my office. It's held up by ten foot posts. I could put up a line around the diameter of the roof or a loop mounted on the post. It's all metal and I don't know if that makes a difference. Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Reading from your last question under 'Receivers', I was originally going to suggest the antenna that most SWL'ers start out with, including myself. A long wire, out to the nearest tree. That said, you then can ask yourself if that End-Point-Tree is out away from power lines & various utilities poles. My dilemma today, as with many other SWL'ers, is to try and run coaxial cable, for an antenna listening post system, that's way away from the power & utility lines, as well as the house, with all of its noise makers. It's best to have any antenna out in the clear, away from metal objects, if possible, as well. Passing contemplation, and good luck DX'ing!
“I am often asked how radio works. Well, you see, wire telegraphy
is like a very long cat. You yank his tail in New York and he
meows in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? Now, radio is
exactly the same, except that there is no cat.”
