checking frequencies
« on: September 28, 2025, 1312 UTC »
You can check quickly your frequency reading on Shortwave Radio/Shortwave Gold (including relay hours),
always on 6160.00 (don't expect 1 Hz accuracy, because of Doppler effect of the ionosphere).

On KiwiSDRs, check the carrier frequency with the SAM mode, and look at the Audio tab: the offset is given in hertz above or below.

Some KiwiSDR's give always the exact frequency, with reference derived from GPS satellites
(beware, sometimes some of the multiple SDRs at the same site can lose the GPS signals),

Other KiwiSDR's (even very good low noise ones) have no GPS reference. Then check on 6160.00,
look at the displayed offset, for example 50 Hz up, then substract 50 Hz to all the frequencies read for stations between 5 to 7 MHz.
(for other bands, find another nearby reference).

Hoping this is clear enough.
