High Solar Flux - Promising for HF
« on: February 02, 2014, 0225 UTC »
The solar flux is currently 177. Signals here right now on the higher SW frequencies appear to be coming in quite strongly. The following were noted in the last 30 minutes:

11520 USA. WEWN - Vandiver, AL. Fair to poor signal, but very good for the middle of a summer's day at 0135 (!), with religious programming. This and a very weak BBC - Kranji on 11955 were the only signals on the band at this time, Feb 2.

And then between 0145 -0200 UTC, the following were noted:

16mb:

17495 CRI
17505 CRI
17520 KSDA-AWR
17535 RFA & Jammers
17550 CNR 1
17595 CNR 1
17605 CNR 1
17625 CNR 2
17640 CRI s/on 0158
17700 KSDA-AWR
17730 RFA and Jammers
17750 RA - Shepparton
17760 HCJB - Kununurra
17780 VOA - Tinang
17795 RA - Shepparton
17810 NHK s/on 0200
17820 R. Pilipinas - Tinang s/on 0200
17880 KSDA-AWR
17890 CNR 1

15mb:

19000 RA-Shepparton

It may be well worth everyone checking these higher freqs (inc. the 13 and 19mb) during the remainder of today for some possible good reception!! And if you do the Ham bands, check the 15, 10 and 6mb for some strong openings. Good luck!!

I hadn't actually checked the solar terrestial indices until I noticed lots of activity on 20 meters tonight.
