DX'ers delight on 75M again? Yeah, finally!!!
« on: November 24, 2025, 1754 UTC »
They're back!!! From 5:00UTC, to maybe 07:00UTC, before bed at 1AM EST my time, I checked-out the 75M DX Window, on 3785LSB. Two dudes up around New England, using 75M phased arrays, were just picking 'em. Many stations, just running 100W. No lightning crashes, finally, so I was able to hear everyone coming back. Even heard a 500W mobile station in the UK at a solid S1. So, that Windom that I have can hear stuff, when the band is finally quieted down. So, these dudes, State-side, K2RR & W2VP, seem to be on most nights, after midnight EST here, (05:00UTC), to work the Euro's, just before sun-up, their side. Just before I shut-down for bed, a dude in Ottawa joined-in to test his station out. So, if you want hear how your antenna works out for DX, check-out 3785kHz, (Or around that DX Window from 3775kHz - 3799kHz LSB.), after midnight here EST, a window time of 05:00UTC - 07:00UTC. You maybe just surprised upon who & where you can here from. I joined them years ago, right after I first put up my Homebrew Windom, and with just 100W, and I could work at least half of the Euro-sided stations. About 5 years ago, there was a Ukrainian station just picking up pile-ups of stations in USA & Canada. Must have been good propagation over the North Pole then. So, if you really want a good test of your Shortwave listening post, on the Lower HF Bands, there's no better test for your listening post than this one.
“I am often asked how radio works. Well, you see, wire telegraphy
is like a very long cat. You yank his tail in New York and he
meows in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? Now, radio is
exactly the same, except that there is no cat.”
-Attributed to Albert Einstein, but I ripped it from the latest Splatter .PDF March 2025 issue.
